Cowboy Up!

Our nephew had his 2nd birthday party yesterday. Apparently our invitation was different than all the other invitations. We got the "dress up as a cowboy" invitation and everyone else got the "come in your normal clothing" invitation. I don't do dress up & this is half the reason why....I hate being the only one who dresses up.....

Devin fits the cowboy part well I think! You should have seen us walking through Old Navy on our way to the party.....What a sight!!!!!

Just Plain Poopy!

Well...if you know me, or you have read my earlier blog postings, you know that I LOVE (adore, fantasize, anticipate, crave....) food. Devin suggested yesterday that we go out to dinner tonight, my choice. So starting the second after his suggestion I began thinking about where I wanted to go. Going over all the meals I love so much, deciding which one I wanted tonight. I had made up my mind, Olive Garden (surprise, surprise!)
On a side note...you would think someone who loved food as much as I do would be more adventuresome in their meal choices and locations. I'm boring, I always get the same thing- unless someone gets something that looks good, then I'll try it the next time (or if it's Devin, I'll try it before he even takes his first bite), but other than that I am pretty predictable in where I like to go and what I order.
On our way to dinner Devin threw out a curve ball and suggested that we go to Elephant Bar. I did not have a good experience the first and only other time I had eaten there but thought I would be flexible (something that is not usually in my character description...but something I am working on) and try it again. After all, it has been 5 years since I've gone back. I will spare you the details and just tell you that dinner tonight was the worst dinning experience WE have EVER had. So bad I came home and had a popcorn dinner. I shouldn't tell you this, but I actually started to cry at the table; I was so disappointed because I had been looking forward to this dinner all day. Devin felt so bad he didn't even finish his dinner (and if you know Devin, he ALWAYS finishes his dinner & mine)....
but then the BEST thing happened..... The baby has not pooped in days (I can't even tell you how many days because it has been so many I forget the last time she pooped). We started to get very concerned today and decided that we needed to intervene and help the pooping process along. Just before we left for dinner we poked her cute little pooper with a thermometer. Want to know something funny (I can't believe I"m sharing this) I thought by doing this, she would instantly start pooping when we removed the thermometer. That somehow sticking something in her pooper would enable poop to flow freely at that very moment. (you can laugh, Devin did!!!) But she saved her pooping for dinner.
While being unsatisfied by my second poorly prepared hamburger our first glimmer of victory began to rumble in my arms- an explosion ensude. She pooped for what seemed like forever. Devin could even hear it across the table- good thing we had already stopped eating the crappy food in front of us (the pun was intended). You would have thought by our reaction to her pooping we had won the lottery or were actually enjoying our dinner & time there. (I never in a million years thought I would or could get so worked up by poop, especially someone elses poop!) ** BTW I'm trying to say poop as much as possible because when else can I say poop? **
Boy were we in for a surprise when we got home & changed her. Devin took her straight from the changing table to the sink for a bath, there were not enough wipes in the house to clean up that mess!!!!
Now I can say I have had one good experience at Elephant Bar instead of two poopy ones!

A Bobblehead Family!

Bobble yourself or your friends! http://www.xmbaseball.com/

The actual bobblehead does bobble....it just doesn't here. Very fun, thanks Matt Doan!

OK.....OK

I did not change her hair....I would NEVER!!! But I'm not sure many of you are convinced because I've gotten the same response many times. "I didn't think you would, but just wasn't sure."
I think she is beautiful just the way she is & if she happens to become blond natural, then perfect. Otherwise she will have beautiful red hair! (Yep, Devin, I finally admitted it....she has red hair!)

First Hair Cut & Color!

We went and got our hair done today- After I got mine done, I thought we could add a little blond into hers to get the process going.....I figure a little at a time & she'll be blond in no time!!!!
Here is a picture in progress....I'm having trouble with my camera so check back later to see an after picture!

Babies Everywhere!

Devin's step-brother & his wife just had their first child, Blake. We finally were able to see him & laughed that Kaylie & Blake were the same size. Kaylie is 10 weeks & Blake is 3 weeks in this picture.

While we were there Rylee wanted to hold baby Kaylie the whole time. Rylee talked to Kaylie and told her that when she got older they would be best friends. It was the cutest thing!!!

PIZOOKIE

We had our first Pizzokie party this past week. We had a great time & the pizzokie was as good as BJ's & it was free, so does that make it better?!!!!

During our party, Tyler & Rylie became instant friends. They had a gret time with Tyler's doctor set. We all got check ups & shots. The kids even gave out medicine (Peanut M&M's). It was so fun to watch them...

If you missed out on our first Pizzokie party, don't worry, we are almost ready for our next one......... Sorry I don't have any pictures of the pizzokie- I'm still new at this whole blogging thing!!!

Fun In The Sun

On Friday we went down to Ladera Ranch to my girlfriend Kelley's community water park. We had a great time & Kaylie loved the water (I promise, she told us.....we assumed she loved it but have no way of proving it to you!!!)

Devin had a great time, I know his face doesn't say that...but I promise he did!

I LOVE this picture of Kaylie in her first swim suit!!!!

I could spend every day at this amazing water park.....we will be back!

"Is there a W in Ball?"

This afternoon I went to CVS to pick up a prescription for my grandma.

The conversation went something like this:
clerk:Hi, can I help you?
me: I am here to pick up a prescription for Betty Ball
clerk: Is there a W in Ball?
me: confused, excuse me?
clerk: Is there a W in Ball?
me: even more confused, Um.....no, there is no W in Ball (Has there ever been a W in Ball?.....wondering why I have no idea what he is talking about)
** now that I think about it, I guess there is a W in bawling or bawl...but at the prescription counter I had no idea where he was going with the W in ball. **
clerk: Here is the prescription, can I have you verify the date of birth?
me: Um....no
clerk: Can you verify the phone number?
me: Um....no
clerk: Can you verify the address?
me: Um....no- wait, I can tell you the phone number (I looked it up in my phone)
I verified the phone number & signed my name for the prescription
.....have you figured out yet that the prescription wasn't for me?.....
clerk: Thank you Ms. Ball, have a great afternoon
me: Thanks, you too!
I left laughing-
I needed a good laugh today!

Things I Hate...

Now that I'm a mom I have one more thing to add to the list of things I hate.

1. I hate pumping gas
2. I hate going to the bathroom
3. I hate being told that I look so young
and now......
4. I hate having strangers tell me my baby is crying because she is hungry

And tonight at dinner the lady sitting in the booth next to us hit on both 3 & 4......

Kaylie was a little fussy during our dinner, and after calming her down the lady and her friend said, "Oh, she must have been hungry" I smiled, but thought How do they know.....then she told us how cute our baby is (the only thing I liked about her, her good taste in babies!) she went on to tell us how she has two kids of her own, but can't remember when they were that little. Devin asked how old they are and she responded, "much older than you." That kind of comment always peeks my interest, how old does she think we are...... So being that snot that I am I asked, "How old is that" and she responded 30 & 27....... Devin and I left smiling and asked each other in the car how old that made us.....

I promise not to be that person!!!!

Hug Me!!!

This is for all of you who know Kaylie likes to be touched as much as her mom......

Honey, Is The Life Insurance Up To Date?

Devin's mom & Bob just got their Harley back from the shop this past weekend.......Notice the picture, doesn't it look great! And how hot does my husband look sitting on it (confidence, radiance, and rainbow flip flops- you know all the essential riding gear!) ......ok onto the good part-

Devin thought today was the day to learn how to ride a motorcycle, a Harley none the less. He started down the driveway with Bob by his side coaching him on what to do (need I remind you that he has NEVER ridden a motorcycle in his life). He got to the street, put it in first gear and was off. Well...kind of- After two-tenths of a second and a hard left he found himself frantically trying to figure out how to lay the bike onto the street without too much damage. 'Dang It', he screamed, how much is this crash going to cost?...The bike laid on the street while Devin was left assessing his injuries.....a smashed toe, scratches on his ankle, a bloody calf, and a sore back.
Maybe tomorrow will be a good day to learn how to ride a motorcycle!

What do I do all day?....

When Devin left this morning for work I promised him I would clean the house and finish up the long over due laundry.....little did I know what I was in for. Kell, does this scene look familar?

Father's Day

Devin's first Father's Day was a great one. We went to the Angels game & dinner. Kaylie had fun playing with grandma and grandpa.... This is one of a few family photos so I thought I would share.

This is my CRAZY best friend, Jen, who did the Mud Run this last weekend. Yep, that is her running (kind of looks like swimming to me) in the mud!

She had a great time & is looking for people to do the run with her next year. Any takers?.....I won't be one of them, I don't like to get dirty!.....when did I get so girly?

The perfect bite

I don't know what it is about food that causes my love affair with it, but I am always looking for that perfect bite (and it usually is always on Devin's plate).
I often dream about my next meal & what it will be. When I know I am going out to eat I want to know where so I can plan what I will eat in my head and be able to look forward to it......I know I'm not the only one, right Jamie!!!!!
Well today I walked with the 6th graders from Calvary to the center by school for lunch. I had been looking forward to Baja Fresh all weekend. I ordered my chicken nachos as usual but when they came they were missing the salsa. (and what is Baja Fresh without their chunky salsa?) I know there is the outbreak of salmonella with tomatoes right now, but that was messing with the perfect bite. I tried to enjoy the nachos, but they just were not the same & I left unsatisfied.
UPDATE......Today I went back to Baja Fresh & the first question I asked was, "do you have tomatoes?" I was thrilled when they said yes & my nachos looked as they should piled high with Pico de Gallo....I'm sorry I don't have a picture, but trust me it was pretty (if food can be pretty!)

The Car Seat

If you know me, you know there is one thing I love more than anything....shopping! I NEVER thought in a million years that something would come between me and my love for shopping, but it has come! The car seat....that dumb thing is so much effort I find myself not wanting to get out of the car or make one more stop. I am amazed at the number of things I just don't want to do anymore because of that darn thing! The worst part of the car seat...it's not going anywhere for at least 5 years & if we have more kids- even longer!
(I think if someone would have told Devin about this, he would have implemented the car seat years ago!)

And no one told me I was leaving the world of escalators to join the world of elevators.

All dressed up and nowhere to go!

Am I the only one who plays dress up with their kids?......
funny because I never really played with dolls!

Firefighter Whitsell #2

Aunt Lisa and cousin Dylan came over the other day & Devin dressed Dylan up in his 'gear'. Here is the future Firefighter Dylan!

Our First Angels Game

6 weeks old & already an Angels fan!!!!

Weighing In

We don't have a dr. apt until the end of June & wanted to know how much she weighed..... We had fun, but I'm not sure she enjoyed the experience!!!

Kaylie

Devin put his sunglasses on Kaylie while we were out shopping. We aren't sure if she liked it or not, but her face is priceless!
