One Man's Trash is Another Man's.......

My parents are re-doing their home.
They bought new chairs for the living room & wanted to give the ones they have had for 25 years to the Goodwill.....
The Goodwill said, "No thanks".....Did you know they could or would do that?!!!!

Anyone want a treasure?

Our Nephew, Dylan

So handsome....
So, I do realize that it is hard to see his new hair cut due to the tree behind him that is the same color as his hair....but trust me, he did get it cut......

Oh...What a Day!!!

We went to theto seeso he could do this

for an anniversary gift for Devin.

I spent $10.00

and waited in line for

HOURS

only to find out that he LEFT!!!

I'm excited for the guy because he is starting in center field tonight, but what do I do now for my husband?
Besides the sunburn and beer battered potato wedges (so yummy by the way) all I got was confirmation that Cheri is a really great friend for doing this with me!!!

6 quirky things

After reading Cheri's and therefore being "tagged", I'm now listing six of my own oddities. I'll feel much better if I find I'm not the only one who does these things, but I have a sneaky suspicion I might be the only one. I'm not sure I'm really ready to go public with these, but here I go anyway-

Promise not to judge?......
1. I hate movie theater seats, I cannot even imagine what gross things are on them (along the same line as hotel bed spreads...but I'm not even going to go there!) I will not wear anything shorter than capris and I always bring a hooded sweatshirt to wear to protect my hair.
2. I will not eat food from someones kitchen that I have never seen. I don't know what they did while cooking and prefer to stay clear of most homemade goodies. It also makes for a great diet.....
3. I believe that bathrooms are the grossest place in the whole wide world. I will not eat or drink ANYTHING that has been in a bathroom for any amount of time. I cannot even drink a bottle of water that has gone in the bathroom. On the same, but different note, I will not ever use a port-a-potty no matter how badly I need to go.
(Can you tell that I am a germ-a-phobe?....)
4. I think toe nails were made to be painted & I will not be seen in public with unpainted toe nails (even if I am wearing closed toed shoes...I will know they are unpainted).
5. I will not buy a pair of shoes that I cannot cross my toes in.
6. I have to have the perfect amount of ice in my cup of soda. It is almost as important to me as the perfect bite. I have even thrown away a soda because there wasn't enough ice in the cup.
So after thinking & admitting to my quirks I am reminded of how weird I am and wonder how I have any friends.....
Thanks for loving me just the way I am- quirks and all!!!!

So...let's hear about yours....let loose and share, I promise not to judge!

Posting Lull....

I have a general rule for posting....you need a picture. I obviously have broken that rule more than once, but like to keep it as much as possible. This week we are on a homecation (the kind of vacation where you go to someones house who went on a real vacation and feed their dogs and pick up their mail) my computer does not have access to the Internet so I cannot upload photos. Because of this, I have hesitated to blog because I could not add the picture that corresponds to the blog entry. I decided my blog was boring because it had not been updated in some time so here I am......blogging about nothing!

Devin is gone for a week. He went up north to Mt. Shasta as part of a strike team to help with the wild fires. He is fighting the Shu/lightening/motion fire. So much for our homecation....I'm here in this nice home with just the baby. (can you tell I'm feeling sorry for myself?!!!)

I am loving life by the pool & inside their air conditioned home!!!! Most of all, I'm loving the king bed all to myself!!!

Doctor Visit- 3 month check up

While at our most recent doctor visit I was asked a number of questions while the doctor was typing my answers in the computer. The conversation went something like this:
Dr: "Does the baby read?"
Me: "Um.....no, she can't read. "
** This is when the Dr. started typing in her computer "Baby doesn't read"
Me cont': "I read books to her, but she can't read yet."
Dr: Stops typing, looks up and says "You do?....every day?"
Me: "Yes, I try to read to her everyday"
** Dr. erases what she previously typed in the computer and types "mom reads to baby daily."
Devin: VERY CONFUSED asks, "do most babies her age read?"
Dr: "I guess I didn't phrase my question very well....I meant to ask if you were reading to her."
Devin: "Good, I thought our baby was missing something!"

Have you ever known a 3 month old to read?....

The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Well....I LOVE blogging for many reasons, but mostly because I"m so NOT creative and can't scrapbook....just ask my cousin Kaitie! Cheri found a web site that will print your blog (thanks friend) so now I can have the first years of Kaylie's life documented by my new favorite thing!
Check it out, very reasonable!

LMK if you use it....I think I will wait and print a year at a time!

Cowboy Up!

Our nephew had his 2nd birthday party yesterday. Apparently our invitation was different than all the other invitations. We got the "dress up as a cowboy" invitation and everyone else got the "come in your normal clothing" invitation. I don't do dress up & this is half the reason why....I hate being the only one who dresses up.....

Devin fits the cowboy part well I think! You should have seen us walking through Old Navy on our way to the party.....What a sight!!!!!

Just Plain Poopy!

Well...if you know me, or you have read my earlier blog postings, you know that I LOVE (adore, fantasize, anticipate, crave....) food. Devin suggested yesterday that we go out to dinner tonight, my choice. So starting the second after his suggestion I began thinking about where I wanted to go. Going over all the meals I love so much, deciding which one I wanted tonight. I had made up my mind, Olive Garden (surprise, surprise!)
On a side note...you would think someone who loved food as much as I do would be more adventuresome in their meal choices and locations. I'm boring, I always get the same thing- unless someone gets something that looks good, then I'll try it the next time (or if it's Devin, I'll try it before he even takes his first bite), but other than that I am pretty predictable in where I like to go and what I order.
On our way to dinner Devin threw out a curve ball and suggested that we go to Elephant Bar. I did not have a good experience the first and only other time I had eaten there but thought I would be flexible (something that is not usually in my character description...but something I am working on) and try it again. After all, it has been 5 years since I've gone back. I will spare you the details and just tell you that dinner tonight was the worst dinning experience WE have EVER had. So bad I came home and had a popcorn dinner. I shouldn't tell you this, but I actually started to cry at the table; I was so disappointed because I had been looking forward to this dinner all day. Devin felt so bad he didn't even finish his dinner (and if you know Devin, he ALWAYS finishes his dinner & mine)....
but then the BEST thing happened..... The baby has not pooped in days (I can't even tell you how many days because it has been so many I forget the last time she pooped). We started to get very concerned today and decided that we needed to intervene and help the pooping process along. Just before we left for dinner we poked her cute little pooper with a thermometer. Want to know something funny (I can't believe I"m sharing this) I thought by doing this, she would instantly start pooping when we removed the thermometer. That somehow sticking something in her pooper would enable poop to flow freely at that very moment. (you can laugh, Devin did!!!) But she saved her pooping for dinner.
While being unsatisfied by my second poorly prepared hamburger our first glimmer of victory began to rumble in my arms- an explosion ensude. She pooped for what seemed like forever. Devin could even hear it across the table- good thing we had already stopped eating the crappy food in front of us (the pun was intended). You would have thought by our reaction to her pooping we had won the lottery or were actually enjoying our dinner & time there. (I never in a million years thought I would or could get so worked up by poop, especially someone elses poop!) ** BTW I'm trying to say poop as much as possible because when else can I say poop? **
Boy were we in for a surprise when we got home & changed her. Devin took her straight from the changing table to the sink for a bath, there were not enough wipes in the house to clean up that mess!!!!
Now I can say I have had one good experience at Elephant Bar instead of two poopy ones!

A Bobblehead Family!

Bobble yourself or your friends! http://www.xmbaseball.com/

The actual bobblehead does bobble....it just doesn't here. Very fun, thanks Matt Doan!

OK.....OK

I did not change her hair....I would NEVER!!! But I'm not sure many of you are convinced because I've gotten the same response many times. "I didn't think you would, but just wasn't sure."
I think she is beautiful just the way she is & if she happens to become blond natural, then perfect. Otherwise she will have beautiful red hair! (Yep, Devin, I finally admitted it....she has red hair!)

First Hair Cut & Color!

We went and got our hair done today- After I got mine done, I thought we could add a little blond into hers to get the process going.....I figure a little at a time & she'll be blond in no time!!!!
Here is a picture in progress....I'm having trouble with my camera so check back later to see an after picture!

Babies Everywhere!

Devin's step-brother & his wife just had their first child, Blake. We finally were able to see him & laughed that Kaylie & Blake were the same size. Kaylie is 10 weeks & Blake is 3 weeks in this picture.

While we were there Rylee wanted to hold baby Kaylie the whole time. Rylee talked to Kaylie and told her that when she got older they would be best friends. It was the cutest thing!!!

PIZOOKIE

We had our first Pizzokie party this past week. We had a great time & the pizzokie was as good as BJ's & it was free, so does that make it better?!!!!

During our party, Tyler & Rylie became instant friends. They had a gret time with Tyler's doctor set. We all got check ups & shots. The kids even gave out medicine (Peanut M&M's). It was so fun to watch them...

If you missed out on our first Pizzokie party, don't worry, we are almost ready for our next one......... Sorry I don't have any pictures of the pizzokie- I'm still new at this whole blogging thing!!!

Fun In The Sun

On Friday we went down to Ladera Ranch to my girlfriend Kelley's community water park. We had a great time & Kaylie loved the water (I promise, she told us.....we assumed she loved it but have no way of proving it to you!!!)

Devin had a great time, I know his face doesn't say that...but I promise he did!

I LOVE this picture of Kaylie in her first swim suit!!!!

I could spend every day at this amazing water park.....we will be back!

"Is there a W in Ball?"

This afternoon I went to CVS to pick up a prescription for my grandma.

The conversation went something like this:
clerk:Hi, can I help you?
me: I am here to pick up a prescription for Betty Ball
clerk: Is there a W in Ball?
me: confused, excuse me?
clerk: Is there a W in Ball?
me: even more confused, Um.....no, there is no W in Ball (Has there ever been a W in Ball?.....wondering why I have no idea what he is talking about)
** now that I think about it, I guess there is a W in bawling or bawl...but at the prescription counter I had no idea where he was going with the W in ball. **
clerk: Here is the prescription, can I have you verify the date of birth?
me: Um....no
clerk: Can you verify the phone number?
me: Um....no
clerk: Can you verify the address?
me: Um....no- wait, I can tell you the phone number (I looked it up in my phone)
I verified the phone number & signed my name for the prescription
.....have you figured out yet that the prescription wasn't for me?.....
clerk: Thank you Ms. Ball, have a great afternoon
me: Thanks, you too!
I left laughing-
I needed a good laugh today!

Things I Hate...

Now that I'm a mom I have one more thing to add to the list of things I hate.

1. I hate pumping gas
2. I hate going to the bathroom
3. I hate being told that I look so young
and now......
4. I hate having strangers tell me my baby is crying because she is hungry

And tonight at dinner the lady sitting in the booth next to us hit on both 3 & 4......

Kaylie was a little fussy during our dinner, and after calming her down the lady and her friend said, "Oh, she must have been hungry" I smiled, but thought How do they know.....then she told us how cute our baby is (the only thing I liked about her, her good taste in babies!) she went on to tell us how she has two kids of her own, but can't remember when they were that little. Devin asked how old they are and she responded, "much older than you." That kind of comment always peeks my interest, how old does she think we are...... So being that snot that I am I asked, "How old is that" and she responded 30 & 27....... Devin and I left smiling and asked each other in the car how old that made us.....

I promise not to be that person!!!!

Hug Me!!!

This is for all of you who know Kaylie likes to be touched as much as her mom......
